I had trouble flashing my dead dm500-s(shows only green light but doesn't boot) using the rs-232 port but finally i knew the issue was all with my cable it was straight through not crossover. So now what? Can i change it to crossover or i will just mess it up and i will just have to buy a null modem cable which is actually hard to get around here without mistaking it for a normal straight through cable.

Make your own then.
Cut serial cable in half, then join wires
2 to 3
3 to 2
5 to 5
