Hi, in first place you should circuit integrity, means power supply, ground and signal wire, furthermor continuity, no sshort to ground or power etc. You got the diagram?

you'll need to tell which engine/engine management in order to give you the correct diagram. (1.8l or 2.4l or...)

This is the generic diag flow chart for P0340:

DTC Code P0340

DTC Code:
P0340

Description: Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit (Bank 1 Or Single Sensor)

Probable Causes:

Sensor or solenoid faulty
Connector terminal contact is damaged or corroded
Wire harness - Check harness for correct voltage, open, short to ground or short to voltage
Update control unit software - Check for the latest control unit update
Powertrain or Engine Control Module faulty
