Hi
I am trying to flash my dbox with a serial cable (null modem) 9pin d plug using hyperterminal I can connect to the box and get to the prompt dbox2:root > but then if I type in DL 800000 as the guides say and press enter I get a bad command prompt any ideas guys where I am going wrong?
Anyone got a differant guide to the 1 in the download section thats a bit easier?
Just spent the last 6 hours messing with it.
Many Thanks

i would invest in a crossover cable, i usually find if you connect the crossover cable and the the serial cable, dbox in standby, start ifa and then bring your dbox off standby by using your remote everything should work fine

Hi
Thanks for the reply I have got a cross over cable and have tried to use IFA but that is not working also tried to use FlashFTP and cant get to box with that.
Does anyone know if the setting DCHP needs to be on or off?
Cheers

IFA use when you want without nullmodemkabel flash.

dbox connect to the PC
IFA start.
search on your pc for the image dbox (full image with bootloader)
click on: without zeromodemcable
now to start.

powercable now in the socket.
should not happen again then plug into the socket. it may be that you have to make 2-5 times.
in the display should be flashing success.

if the flash should be finished in the display are done

Flashing without zero-modem
You need:
The Dbox2-Bootmanager , this ppcboot , a Dbox in the Debug-mode, as well as a functioning network.

Considere please that with this method the image is not examined.
You need 8,257,536 bytes a large image, thus 8MB - 128kb (more bootloader).
All official images have exactly this size. If an Linux image selected it and it is 8,388,608 bytes, you remove the bootloader with the Tuxbox Flashtools. Simply open it and store it again.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Copy the ppcboot to any directory (no blanks). Use this ppcboot as "Bootfile f?r Dbox" and activate "Bootp/Tftp-Server starten".
Name your desired image to 13.imgr and put it into the same directory as ppcboot.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Attitudes for the boat manager:
BootP/TFTP server: Enabled
NFS server: Disabled
In addition, a serial zero-modem is not necessary with this method, it harms not.

Now press Start and start the Dbox.

After short time Flashing in the LCD of the box appears.
The Flashig lasts somewhat longer than with zero-modem. (up to 20 minutes, is different from box to box)
Wait a little. If the Flashing is final, Flashing Done in the LCD appears and you can plug off the box.
Remember the boat manager to terminate, before you start the box again, otherwise the Flashing is again introduced.

hi
this is the best way if you can't flash with IFA, as i had the same problem and i now flash this way if i can't with IFA. it is a long process over 1 1/2hrs work but it surely works
you need to type dl 800000 note the lower case and the space after dl
hope this helps
