Hi

Again, a newbie to this but I am sure many of you were in the same boat.

New Skybox F5, all channels yesterday. Switched on today and nearly all showing a weak signal / scrambled and only a few HD channels viewable. Sat Dish is perfect, basically nothing has changed. Any ideas ?

Keep it simple until, as i said, new to this.

Mate, signal means dish/LNB/ cabling issue, scrambled means ISP/CS Server issue.

Thank you. So how do i know that its not a decryption issue on the Skybox. I bought the "full package" ?? Will it tell me what I am intitled to ?

Is there a way of optimising the system so that I dont have to keep fire fighting ? I have updated the channel list with AJ's listing.

Try a different channel list, i have had to do that to fix some errors with mine, your subscription may not cover thaat channel list

First port of call if I were you would be to contact your provider to see if there are server issues. As above scrambled means either server or ISP is at fault.

You can check if it is ISP based by doing a tracert to your CS server.

Good luck mate.

You're not the only one mate.

I've been getting low signal for BBC1 HD etc which are FTA channels. Some pay channels work fine and others don't.

It's strange because you'd expect everyone to have this problem since it looks like a channel mapping issue.

I've done a blind scan and the channels are there just not in the favourite cats.

Just to assure a few of you ho are having signal issues that dependant where you are in the UK and type of dish used but with a standard Zone1 43cm dish here are some siganl readings for you too compare.

Astra 2A Sports channels should give you around 10-12 db around 70-75% snr

Astra 1N ITV Regions for example between 14-15.5db around 95-100% snr

Astra 2F some more ITV regions and Channel 4 HD around 16-19db well over 100% snr due to it being a brand new satellite

Eutelsat 28A/B CBS Action/Reality etc around 7-9db so equates to 60-65% snr

I have done an average of between on the DB ratings as some people may still have the old MK1-3 dishes made by Channel master and triax and early raven some of which are only 35cm in circumference.
