hi all i had to go look at a 2005 mitsubishi triton today
it had an alternater stuff up and serverly overcharge

blew up the ecu

they bought a brand new ecu from mitsubishi
i told shop to ring mitsubishi and ask for security code
they gave me 3828 or 0000

got some diagrams and i see theres an immob ecu

my daigun can talk to engine ecu and immob ecu
no error codes in immob ecu
but i do have code 54 no comms with immob ecu error in the engine ecu

is there a special procedure to relink a brand new ecu
i tried the daigun to type in the security code or password as mitsubishi called it but no luck

is it something mitsubishi can only do

thanks

I would be surprised if they didn't need linking. I know CAN models require it and the VIN No is stored in the ECU.
If you cannot find a linking procedure on the diagun its probably worth opening the old ECU and seeing if you can find an eeprom and swap the contents onto the new ECU.

hi
thanks foir the info
im abit scared to swap eeprom info over as its for a workshop so if i stuff the brand new ecu it will cost me heaps

it comes up with code 54 which is no comms with immob ecu
i did more research this weekend so i might be another problem and not ecu related

From what I understand, only a MUTIII can do the ECU/IMMO link.
I had an 08 colt with the same problem and the ECU was sealed.

ok thanks Fallen
would a clone mutIII do the job
wonder if its worth buying one

FALLEN is right the M.U.TIII will do this....but i think the launch can also do this.....and the immob code you have been given i think is incorrect.

if you try and code this immob many times it will lock out....

best thing is to send me a pm with the car details(triton) is not a uk car.but i may be able to help with a code.

yes you are right....but is it petrol diesel....triton comes with many different engine i think....L200 IN UK has only one engine.

hi piablo
that is the immob code i got from mitsubishi
3828 i tried with g scan and launch and ultrascan
all didnt work

maybe there is immob ecu problem

hey Baden the job is for another workshop and they just paid alot of money for a new ecu
i dont want to play around with the dump incase i stuff it up and it ends up costing me alot

i mainly just need to know if my scan tools will do the job or if it needs to goto mitsubishi for them to use their mutiii tool

or if its worth me buying a clone mutiii for 1000 dollars

CLONE M.U.TIII-i havnt seen any good reports on these...so i would try with the tools you have.all that needs doing is going down the procedure to code in a new key.this will then sink the key to immob and engine ecu.then code 54should go.

Ok
what is the correct procedure
i used launch to go into immob ecu no codes and I put in the number 3828
i then goto ecu and I think I put in the same number
thats what I tried afew times last week. So now not sure what to do

thanks

Pablo is suggesting you program the keys and that will sync the ECU and Immobiliser module aswell.
On the Gscan you select Mitsubishi > International > System Search and look for immobiliser. Under special functions you can program keys. Will ask you for a PIN. If 3828 is rejected don't keep trying it.

Aus-man is correct, that is the same procedure in m.u.t. . . U get code 54 because immob codes are incorect or not coded.

I managed to find a friend who works for mitsubishi
he used to work at holden dealership but they changed it to mitsubishi
he said pre 07 08 cars if engine ecu fails u need to change engine ecu immob ecu and keys
stupid design I say
and stupid dickheads in spares should have told them u need all other parts then u can link
new keys to new immob ecu using that code which then links engine eecu
later models u can change just the ecu

there is a program out there that can change it to non immo. i believe it call "open source" free download. look for it on the mitz forum.

EcuFlash tuning : High Performance Engine Tuning : Engine Tuning : Open Source Tune : Subaru and Mitsubishi tuning. (http://www.enginelogics.com/EcuFlash-Tuning.html)
here is the software to turn off immo. And increase performance.

i no you have a new ecu-and you said you dont want to flash it in case it goes wrong.....but send me a pm,immob off

i have the mitsubishi / subaru tuning cables
the tactrix one and all the little adapters
the car is at another shop i do diagnosing for so its hard to get to
i dont want to stuff up a 1500 dollar ecu
thats y i told them to talk to mitsubishi

i think that ecu tuning stuff doesnt work on all mitsubishi
mainly turbo ones or ones most people would like to tune for better performance like evos
i go the stuff but never bothered to sit and play with it

it was petrol
i think the ecu and immob and keys are onve program units
