Hi all,
I 've got a DM800HD with version : boot76, gemi 5.1, sim2.01, tuner alps M version.
I want to upgrade to an image and found this one which seems fine
openpli-2.1-beta-dm800-2013-03-31-sim2-dOOds-Backup
So I will update the SSL to 84b.
My 2 questions:
1) What is best - updating via browser (IE) or via null modem cable?
2) I have read both versions --- so what is the correct order - first flashing the SSL then hitting back (no reboot) and flashign the image then the SSL once more?
Thanks!

Your option 2 would be best, prob no need to flash ssl before but certainly won't do no harm, just use normal browser method, other method is only needed if your box is not booting

So is it ok if I adopt this procedure? For the benefit of other newbies as well...
1 : Shutdown dreambox DM800HD
2 : Press and hold front button on the front panel of dreambox to obtain the IP Adress of the box.
3 : Flash with sim201_ssl84b by typing the IP adress of the box in the address bar of internet explorer and selecting the file.
4 : when flash 100% don't click on "REBOOT" on internet explorer
5 : Flash with openpli-2.1-beta-dm800-2013-03-31-sim2-dOOds-Backup by opening a new internet explorer window and typing the IP adress in the address bar of internet explorer and select the file.
6 : when flash 100% don't click on "REBOOT" on internet explorer
7 : Flash with sim201_ssl84b by typing the IP adress of the box in the address bar of internet explorer and selecting the file.
8 : Now click on 'Reboot'

that's it mate, bit long winded but doing it as above wont do any harm, the 1st flash is not necessary as it will be overwritten by last flash , sometimes the last flash wont be necessary either as the bootloader on sim2 images is generally included in the image, a lot of sim2 images will have a 84a/b 82 79 etc in the title, meaning the ssl is already in the image, however as I say your method is bib and brace as will not do any harm
