Ronster cheers mate much appreciated. Am i reading this correctly that it fixes N3 - surely not. If it does the price of the box will go through the roof. Mash will be a millionaire LOL.

Anyone in Ireland test this and confirm.

sounds promising in relation to the Irish issue in relation to the n2 as i had heard that people were doind cards but nothing in the likes of firmware/emu for n2

Hopefully some keysets will be released so we can get the Dboxs running.

Thats whats required, interesting that card must have been opened.

Thats whats required, interesting that card must have been opened.

you can only dump the rom110 revA05...
Most of these were updated "over-the-air" to Rom110 REVA07

you need RSA keys as well as opkeys to get dbox( or any other linnux box for that matter ) back running , which will work for now since they havnt started rolling on n2/n3.......

yet...

the n2 cards in Ireland have been open for some time now but they were only distributed on cable, this fix will last until the areas in question stop streaming n2 and only stream n3 so this can be used to prolong viewing for mmds areas as well

You obviously didn't read the post above yours then.
You will need to wait a while for the server to update as that was your first post.

have a look around and maybe you could do an intro post whilst your waiting or check out one of the other sections.

Hi, Ive just spent a good couple of hours trying to update using the loading instructions in download section, and for some reason, despite the fact that its always worked for me, it just wouldnt go this time.

So I spent ages searching google for answers, and stumbled across alternative instructions, which worked instantly for me!

Make sure before you start you check what COM port your RS232 is on:
1)go to control panel
2)hardware
3)device manager
4)Ports (COM & LPT)
5)Double click on the adapter
6)Click Port Settings
7)Click Advanced
8)Under COM port, change to no. 3

Here we go:
1.Connect STB to PC by null cable/usb to rs232 adapter
2.Start up STB editor/kryptview loader
3.Click on tools
4.Goto code
5.Click on send
6.Click on open
7.Click on the firmware file from your PC
8.Make sure you are on the right com (COM3 if you followed as above, or whatever your setting is otherwise) & FTA MODEL
9.Turn off your STB by the plug
10. Click on start and then turn on STB by plug and it will start to send the data to the STB
11. Wait untill the download is complete and STB will turn back on

Done! Then just follow the usual for re-searching channels.

Thought id just put this up in case anyone else has problems with updating their box.

Hope it helps! Dan

Have tried all that got a bit further than usual but says 'The download is not requested'

Any Ideas?

if using laptop it maybe cos you selected wrong comport, if you dont want to change the settings on pc then start at 1 then go up 1 at a time and one will work. if using desktop it maybe cos you have got a serial cable and not a null cable, or it could be you havnt switched box off then pressed start on loader then switched box on to start the download

Hi, we are using the right com port we checked under device manger. also we are using a maple lead, the one they say is the correct lead.

also we are turning it off then clicking send, then turning the box back on straight away ...

@ jessii and @ nicho123 unless its the same person with 2 registrations, If using laptop you should have 2 cables an rs 232 usb to 9 pin male serial adapter cable and an rs232 9 pin female to 9 pin female null modem cable joined together, check the packaging it came in. however if using vista when you plug in usb in it would normally install the driver for it to work but if xp you may have to install the driver from either the disc that came with the cable or http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f10/please-upload-maplin-usb-serial-rs232-drivers-d-12622/?highlight=maplins+driver here when you have that you should be good to go. if using a desktop you only need the rs232 9 pin female to 9 pin female null cable. moral of the story is beg, borrow or steal a desk top they are easier but having said that i mainly use lappy with the driver installed. hope this gets you up and running

Jess is the wife lol, also we have it linked up correct with the usb into the maplein cable then into the box,

we have the drivers for the usb installed on xp on this lapptop also, but still no luck :(

lol good guess by me tho, begining to really think that your rs232 from maplins is serial cable and not a NULL. do you by any chance have the packaging you will not be able to tell any other way as they look the same but are wired differently inside. either that or your comport settings not correct did you try my earlier suggestion of starting at comport 1 and increasing 1 at a time till you find one that works i know it a pain but you may not have to go far up the order till you have success...... just tried on mine the only time i could get it to say file not reqested was when i didnt turn box back on quickly enuff, try leaving the box off till you got loader ready to go press start then count to 2 then switch box on that works every time for me

the lead in fine its the one that this site says to get the it says this on the box.

Nikkai

pure connectivity
data - mp3 - digital & analogue display

Serial lead [Null Modem]
order code L71BT

Features
null modem serial connection lead
fully wired
fully shielded cable for error free transmissions

Is that the right lead??

Thanks for all the help

Serial Null Modem 9-Pin Female to 9-Pin Female > Maplin (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=97740) yes this 1 thats right
We getting there m8, now it can only be your comport settings and box turn on timing you just need to master. i,m off to work so keep posting and someone will help you out if you get stuck. good luck hope you get sorted soon
