problem is, only the case, cd/dvd drive and floppy drive would stay with you. even the psu would be no good.
with some mother board info i could tell you how fast of a chip you could slot in, what you have ATM.

I would be happy enough to keep the case, its in good condition anyways and for the cd/dvd drive its quite up to date going by the logos, dosnt have a floppy drive though. How can i find out the info of the motherboard you need, would i have to open the case or can i do it on screen?

its probably not worth upgrading components on that motherboard really mate. as it will cost you over the odds and once you get round to upgrading the limiting factor (motherboard) then the other upgrades will have to be thrown out too.

saying that if you want to percivere with what you've got and you can pick up a gig of ram for a good price, then that should make a noticable difference, and should keep you happy for a while :)

other option is to completely start again. yes i know it sounds like a big waste, but the "good" stuff that you've got (case etc) is really not worth that much. So you might be better off going for a fully built system.

Or go out and hunt down a reasonable motherboard, processor and ram that will fit in your current case, and work with your current PSU. This will still require reinstalling windows though.

I would go with the above but money is tight as my fiancee is expecting our baby. I think i will just go for a new system in a few months and maybe just get a gig of ram added for the moment.

Thanks for all your help..
