Guys I'm looking for a good distributor based in glasgow central scotland area as I need a large quantity of red gravel chips for my back garden.
They seem very expensive from the usual home and garden stores. Also can anyone give me an idea how many kilos I will need against a square meter for good coverage.
Regards johnboy.

what size area is it
theres no real equation for this kind of thing
as theres voids between the stones... its not one giant solid lump

but one thing a tonne bag of sand is big so
a tonne of these chips will be even a lot bigger
as its not wet and theres voids
if the tonne bag was 1 metres cubed
you would cover a 10 metre squared area
with 10 cm deep of chippings

How much would you cover in the sand?

Gravel and stones come in same size dumpy bags as sand

I take your point though

From my experience neither go very far but i would go along with the above post.

4 25kg bags do around a square metre so in theory there should be 40 in a ton and ten 4's are 40 so

10 square metres is about right
