is it possible to make a used Volvo V70 key virgin?
it is an Eeprom HCS412i and any circuit I do not recognize EPCOS R707 C5TN

Anyone have experience with this?197871197872197873197874

HCS412 is Keeloq Code Hopping Encoder and is used in many remotes. As I know it won't lock after programming like Hitag, so it is reusable.
R707 is just frequency resonator.
My opinion is if manual sync/learning method for this car doesn't work ask your local Volvo dealer if he can program used remote. The point is in programmer who can match encoder and decoder algorithm not in virginizing remote in this case.
If anybody knows more about it will be welcomed.

Volvo can`t use a used key they say.
So I whant to try to make HCS412 virgin, I can buy a new key and copy the file in HCS412 BUT how to read the chip?

You should be able to program used key (but blade is different ofcourse). But for remote programming you need codes that were supplied with remote. This is for older cars.

S40/V50 not possible to reprogram key. Possible to reprogram remote if codes present. But usually thet are not stored.

I sold used remote to customer and program transponder to S80, then send him to dealer to add remote. One month and customer didnt call so i guess dealer program remote ok.

Hi, Reks13. What year was your S80 and what tool did you use to program a transponder? As far as I know if it's 2000 and up with CEM then only dealer download for key programming. Below 2000 could be added with the dump from immo eeprom.
Please add more info

The older key is just a key, and this can reprogram.
the new key as is built inside remoteunit is crap. No one can reprogram this used key.

It shulde be a russian man how can hack this chip inside. I don't know his name.

I recently talked with one Microchip expert about HCSXXX programming/copying. He said that without exact manufacturer key I can't read or copy all content of the chip. Practically nothing. Manufacturer key must be written in programmer software to start, not key, and is top secret for producer like Volvo because it participate in creating algorithm.
I investigated Keeloq's a little because had problems with chinese remote programming on Chevrolet Aveo '06 (dealer Scan100 couldn't do it), also original used remote from other Chevrolet autorized dealer couldn't program. So I wanted to buy virgin original remote but after talk with Microchip representative and expert I quited. Maybe you'll be braver than me.
Programmer is ProMateII or now III. By the way HCS412 also use Fiat Punto and Alfa147 (3btn) as I know. This keys at dealer are very expensive (about 300euro) and I didn't see any aftermarket.

I have now take apart a Volvo insert key totaly!.
The HCSXXX chip and motherboard is oly the remot funktion!
The Immo is stored in a small glass-tube. (see my pitures)

Do some one know how to read this chip made of glass?

It is possible to open the key and take away the immo chip.
The Key is glued together.

You cant read this transponder. You can only write it one time. Cloning not possible.

You need new transponder.

I solved my problem with remote programming on Chevrolet Aveo, new remote was unsuitable, it was for hatchback not sedan like my car was so i ordered used appropriate one from ebay, programmed with Tech 2 and succeeded. So i would say, used Keeloq chip can be reused and used transponder ID 48 Megamos Crypto Magic 2 can be unlocked with ZB clone so maybe you don't have to open key at all. Or buy new transponder, cut the key and take remote and car to the dealer to program key. Only programming is not so expensive so take a little risk, because, don't take me wrong but don't expect from people who know and they spent some money on trying this to tell you all for free. And dealer don't know about reusing used remotes because they always use new ones. I'm talking only about Keeloq's, not Hitag's 2.
If you have opportunity to try that please let me know like i told you what i found on the same system at the other car.
