Have bought an F3 box today all set up and working well but what sort of signal strength should I be getting? I seem to have a few invalid program search again messages after installing the latest AJ channel list. I did a blind scan earlier and got 700+ channels the signal strength is always around 75-76% is that ok? Its a sly mini dish

cheers :D

The SNR reading is only a guide and the few F3's that i have seen all replicate the same problem with the SNR rate either 73-76 even though on a professional meter the reading is more towards 6-8db higher, In other words the reading is faulty and probably due to the firmware drivers for the tuners in these receivers.

My point being take it with a pinch of salt, as Channels on Astra2F such as Channel 4HD should be coming in at around 100% even if your dish was miss aligned due to the signal power of this new Bird.

I wouldn't adjust your dish like digicon said it is a faulty reading on your F3, give us more info and say which channels you are having trouble with.

Are the channels that you couldn't receive with AJ's channel list now working since doing the blind scan?

If not, you may find that not all "gifts" are equal! Some provide more than others.

Also, if you look on King of Sat website, find a channel that isn't working & see what other channels are on that same transponder. If another channel on the same transponder is working, then there's no need to realign your dish.

cheers for the replies :D don't think there is a problem with the dish it was put up by Sky themselves only last year. Just remembered though I had to put a join in the cable so it could be that will get a proper cable at the weekend so there is no join. On one of the channels that wasn't working last night I turned the box off then turned it back on and it started working again.

If you joined it yourself i presume you never used 2 'F' connectors and an 'F' barrel to do the join, doing it this way wont matter about the joins in the cable not for a Fixed dish on 28.2? east anyway

I have my F3 set up temporarily on a mini-camping dish to receive Astra 19.2E to receive live FTA F1 coverage on RTL (German). I get a few hundred FTA channels including many HD without any problem, with a S/N of around 71%

I get a similar figure when swung to Astra 28.2E for UK FTA so your figure on a mini dish seems ok to me
