Rapidshare for me. yeh you need to pay for it but that doesnt bother me because the downloads are super fast, 2.5MB/s. torrents are also good if i cant find what i want on rapidshare.

rapidshare and torrents.

for films etc i just check vcdquality.com then i just grab the torrent from araditracker.com.
you have to keep your ratio up but the downloads are fast, i can grab a full film in under 15 minutes.

I use any method i can to get the file i want lol , Rapidshare over 2 megs a sec , newzgroups over 2 megs a sec , worth paying the little to get the file u want @ great speeds , torrents are usually my last resort even tho the speeds have improved , so i could nt really choose any in the poll , the prob is now i find , im sure im not the only person , but u find urself downloading just cos u can lol

there is a way round the ratio 1.0 as well m8, get a programme called ratio master, does wonders, you can use it to upload @ what ever speed you want to give you a better ratio and fools the torrent forum you use.

you can get ratio master here (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=64)

Usenet (Newsgroups) but I'm finding myself sometimes fallng back onto a few private torrent sites for stuff I can't find on Usenet.

IRC used to be great but these days it's too much hassle compared to other file transfers methods.

Regarding Ratio Master, if it's a decent private server then don't use it, I used it once on a superb private server and was banned within hours :(

Raven
4th July, 2008, 01:01 AM
For bigger files it can only be newsgroups, for smaller files personally I only use rapidshare wherever possible as compared to say megaupload simply because I seem to get much better speeds from rapidshare so I use that on premium.

Personally I will never download from torrents or P2P programs like Kazaa or eMule again, policing issues and security problems and viruses aside for a moment if stuff didn't take ages to come down it was always a bitch where seeding was always a problem....can't tell you the amount of times in the past where I would download a file to 95 percent or more completion only for it to never complete. Insecure, unsafe and unreliable so now I simply use rapidshare premium and pay for newsgroups for the bigger files. The thing is at least my stuff comes down now and come down fast without relying on other people to share their internet bandwidth, which they never did by the way lol

bugaloo41
6th July, 2008, 09:36 AM
Use torrents as long as you find a very good private site then the speeds are excellent and releases very quick.

I gotta go for newgroups here aswell. Torrents are too easy to track these days, I've even started using a VPN provider to encrypt my traffic that flows through my ISP.

Gotta hate progress :-)

Torrents or newsgroups for me. I usually use torrents thanks to the wonderful uTorrent and it's web interface. I also have TV set up to automatically download via RSS links. Given the current crackdown from ISPs I should probably look at moving to binary newsgroups completely. Can anyone recommend a good newsgroup client for Windows? I've used Unison on the mac before and loved it, but I have a windows server running all the time, and the mac is only on occasionally.
