car radio code for a vauxhall astra

as above can anyone please help with a radio code
for a VDO CDR 500[E] radio fitted in a vauxhall astra, the radio serial no is GM050021316092
there's no display on the radio

many thanks but i dont know much about this subject and the car is a neighbors and the code was lost after a new battery was fitted, the local dealer is'nt very interested as the car wasn't from there, can you tell me what i need to do to help and get the radio working again

If you hang on mate ..members who clock in later .. (the back shift) lol will give you the code based on serial (I hope) .. save you having to read and program the radio .. :)

I do not think it is possible from serial,only at main dealer for OPEL/Vauxhall.code only from dump 24c16

first thanks to all who posted back,but the
code problem hasn't been solved, the local
main dealer and the radio shack place's locally
all say they can supply a code from the radio
serial number, but there charges are crazy it
ranges from 2 hours minimum labour charge at
the dealership and anything from ?30 to ?40 at
the other suppliers, when i was working i had a very
well paid job but i wish it had been like these prices
at ?30 for about 5 minutes, now my neighbor say's her
brother said will give her a radio and fit it for her, so she
has decided to bin the other radio from the car.
