Probably easier doing an image re-flash this way you know any maybe corrupt data gets wiped from the nandflash

For reflashing the image plenty of guides around but best following the ones on here in the tutorial section and will have you up and running again in no time: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f195/dummies-guide-setting-up-your-vu-203093/

Re: How to flash a VU+ Duo using a USB stick
The bootloader is in www.openvix.co.uk (http://www.openvix.co.uk/)
The images are there too.
You flash the bootloader first and in the same way you would the image. Found this little ditty and it did the job. Sat box working normally again. thanks m8:)

A factory reset is quite misleading in that it does not return the unit back to factory condition, ie back to the original Vu image, it simply wipes the user area of the current image thats on the receiver and returns you back to the FIW ( first install wizard ) to set thngs up again.

I was given a link to a site from which I loaded a CFE file unto a mem stk. That re flashed the box to the beginning I think. (I have 1 issue i can't get an answer to) When I come across the link I will post it. Ta for your support guys.

The .cfe file is a bootloader upgrade it has nothing to do with returning the box to a factory state, once you flash the bootloader you then have to flash a image to the receiver, flashing a new image first erases the flash then writes it anew with the image.
