Hi to all, i have a strange smart that came in, so, someone decided to jump start the car and swapped the cables, off course alternator and some other stuff blew up, i?ve managed to start the car the alternator and the starter its fine, but the car wont rev, and code p2042 throttle signal not correct kicks in:( so result no throttle, i?ve check resistance, continuity, swapped both (new throttle body) and ecu and the result its the same, no matter how many throttle bodys i use (and i?ve used 3 already) the car revs for about 20 sec and never again:( except for now and then it starts to rev again but just for a few seconds...

Any help appreciated

Hello

yes a comun problem in this car when swap starterd polarity. You need a spare ecu engine. find a used ecu, and recode the keys with star diagnose. or change the eeprom chip 24c02 from burmed ecu to the spare

hi genius, i?ve changed the pedal and the throttle body, both new and still got the same error after start, by the way its a smart roadster 700cc 82hp 2003, i?ve also checked the mb step by step and all seems ok except for the throtlle angle that it is 0? when tested

and another thing, in the live data the accelerator its ok all the way, may the alternator cause this? And do you know weres the Fuel shutoff (if it has one)

Well mate I don't know much of that car, but some time ago I fixed a Nissan with a similar problem. It turned out to be a fuse for the electric throttle Valve. The ECM receives 12V from this fuse and then activates the 2 wired motor inside the ETV.

i have 12v in if i floor it when i start the car the car will rev for a sec but thats it, so i presume its a signal problem instead a feeding problem

Hello

In my car with this problem (jump start reverse), I replace ecu, alternator, sam, clunck actuator

try to replace the alternator, is very rare that the alternator is ok.

the fuel shutoff is made by the sam, check all fuses in the top have 4 big fuses,50A and 30A. if already fuses ok you need check the fuel punp, need unmount the fabric in the trunk area (convertible top motor zone)

thanks you all for your help, i?ve repaired the alternator, and another thing the car doesnt stall, it just doesnt accelerate, i?ve also checked the throtlle pins for loose connections:(

did you measure signal changes or not on throttle pins when accelerating

i mend by multi tester not by obd

I would trace new wires from the ECM to the TPS and to the APS, maybe a melted wire is the problem.

Hi Tellfaia, old thread but I have smart with same fault, did you fix yours? I don't want to change ECU, throttle and pedal to find I still have same problem.

I tried PM but I think my post count is too low :)

Some help ?
