Currently have the diofe fix on my F5 box. I took the cables to move the box but now when I plug it back in, the box keeps restarting. When I remove it, it works fine. As soon as the connector touches the box thats when it happens. Could the diode be fried?

More likely signal wire shorting with earthing wire.

It's more likely that the outer screen is somehow touching the inner wire causing a short circuit.
If the diode itself had gone open or short circuit, then it shoudn't cause any rebooting problems.
I take it that the box doesn't reboot when the LNB is plugged in directly?

a picture like that fills me with horror, get a proper cable for safety sake, things need a standard for things to work, thinking that box has a 2 pin plug and has no way of earthing if a fault happens, the outer braid of sat cable is there for a reason.

Thats not the way it was when I bought it, I took the small plastic piece of the was covering the diode.

if you only took off the wrapping it still shows the person who did it did not know about bare wires and their problems.

a Kludge if I ever saw one.
The braided shield is shorting the center conductor

So my best option would be to get new cable and do it myself?

or is there something else to use, wonder if the fix is on inside of box instead?
yes i see that cable is a diy fix selling on ebay

Dont think there is anything done to the inside of the box. The missing channels worked straight away when I connected the fix. I will have a go at a new one tonight and see if that makes a difference.

The LNB F socket inner connector connects straight to the inside of the tuner box, so there's nowhere easy to insert the diode. It has to be done externally.
I suppose the best solution is solder the diode & capacitor inside a small metal box fitted with 2 F sockets.

The Best solution would be to purchase a Better box in the first place and one that does not need a fudged up bodge job like this to work correctly, 'strewth out of all the receivers i have ever owned its these cheap chinese TAT that seem to need to be bodged somewhere to work correctly
Give me strength :-0

I was unaware that there was a box the could handle the quad lmb's?
I removed the outer wire that was touching the inner part, it stopped the box shorting but the diode must be fried, not picking up the channels now.
