View Full Version : Skybox : Can I add just one channel to my handcrafted list?

I've just realised that my Sky Sports 1 HD channel is not the best one. It's Service ID 4001 from the 11740 Transponder. I really want Service ID 3802 from the 11798 Transponder.
Is there a clever way that I can just tweak/replace this one channel?
A normal rescan will mean that I have to go back and rework the whole list of 600+ channels because, as you'll see, I want/need my list of All Services to match the list in my Favourites Group 1.
Thanks in advance for any ideas or help.

Thanks for your brilliantly quick response P&D. Give me a while to apply it and respond - I'm struggling to extract your .dbs - obviously all my zip and rar extraction programs are ancient (they tell me your file is incomplete/corrupt) so I'm trying to find something more modern that will deliver me your channel list.

Well I'm stumped. Have installed latest 7-zip, Winzip and WinRar but none of them will open your .rar. What compression program do you use?

Have tried winrar 4.20 on 2 different computers - same result : "unexpected end of archive : file is corrupt". I'll sleep on it.

Menu
Installation
TP List
Scroll to 11798MHz
OK
Scan Channel (TV Channel)
OK
You should now have the few channels from that TP at the end of your all list. (To get All List, OK on any channel, Red Button, All, OK)
You can then manually add it to you Sport Fav and delete the other.

Firstly - many, many thanks DW190. That's exactly what I needed - not only have I made my immediately required change but I'm equipped to make similar tweaks in the future. (I've only been into this magical Skybox world for a couple of weeks and hadn't spotted the TP List scan feature to home in on just one transponder.)
And .... many, many thanks P&D for your help. I finally opened your .dbs. There was obviously a glitch when I first downloaded it. After finally deciding that I did have all the right, up-to-date extraction tools I downloaded it again and opened it normally. Thanks also, for the tidy up of sports duplicates but I'm going to leave those for the moment. Sky Sports Ashes (which has replaced Sky Sports 2, at least for the moment) and BT Sports 1 and 2 need time to settle down and I'll prune out the dead wood then.
One question arising which I'd be grateful for help with - what's the difference between Default Data Base and User Data Base when opening and when saving with the PVR800-Editor?

Assuming this is the Ali Editor you must first copy your TP_PROG.dbs to the same folder as the editor is in. You then have to use the split prog to get a .UDF file, this is the file you open in the editor. When you have finished playing around you have to use the merge prog to merge the UDF back to the .dbs

Thnx DW190.
Actually I'm using PVR800-Editor.exe (the one where you change the dbs suffix to abs). When you open the abs file you're asked to select either the Default database or the User database and you're asked the same question when you close and save. I've always just opted for the User database but I'm curious about the difference because P&D's amended version of my TP_PROG.dbs (see above in this thread) shows his changes in the Default database and the User database shows my originals.

I've got to say that I find these editors a bit of a waste of time. Just as easy to get a list on your box and tweak it to suit.
The only editor I've found to be of value is Dreambox Edit for linux. You can do all sorts with it in both Enigma 1 and 2.
