Bought a R reg carisma a few month ago but recently got a new car I only got 1 key with the carisma so when i got a new car I put the key somewhere safe lol that safe ive hunted for a week and cant find it.

I think it was a lazer cut key but it wasnt coded will i just chuck the car on ebay without the keys are will this mean the car will go for nothing the cars unlocked so the folk can still look around it lmao

one key fitted everything put the petrol cap wasnt key locked as smirnoff had all ready suggested trying to take that somewhere

any ideas folks is there no numbers of the car you can take to the dealers are im i just ~~~~ed the cars only worth about ?400 it has full history and only 90k diesel i dont wanna spend money

you were deffinatly on the right track hawkish in the manual it says 2 keys are provided with removable tag numbers keep these in a safe place so your key number doesnt become known to others and incase you loose your spare lol

LMAO theres everything in the manual full service recipts for everything ever spent on it BUT NO STICKERS ARE TAGS ARE CARDS WITH A KEY NUMBER
JUST MY DUCKING LUCK

IT also says the immobiliser allows up to 8 different spare keys aswell handy to know for future reference doesnt help me though

LAst summer i lost the only key for my Vectra, I searched the net and found various places saying they could make a key but that it would not be fully functional with the alarm system etc, they were able to program the transponder but it was a half and half job at best. As my car was locked down (immobilised) I needed the new key from Vauxhall.

They (Vauxahall) wanted an ID card which was supposed to be with the car before they could do keys. I did not have the card so they had to get the info dug out of the archives as it was more than five years old and produce a new card (which they charged me for), then they ordered the new keys then they programmed them, all in all it cost me about ?150. I had no choice as they had me by the balls on that one, was cheaper than new locks or a new car though...

good luck..

OK peeps I have got a new key from the dealer ?30 they didnt need a key number after all thing is ive got the key but the want ?58 to programme the code in.

HERES ANOTHER SNAG THE DEALER SAYS IF I TRY AND START THE CAR WITH THE KEY NOT PROGRAMMED IN IT WILL BRAKE MY FULL LOCKING SYSTEM ?????

so now i have to fork out for a recovery van to take my car to the dealers as i dont fancy towing it that far as its a canny hike.

You did not reply to my post asking where you are. My mate is a mobile locksmith specialising in cars. If you are in his area he would come out to you and do the work so the car would not need to be recovered.

NO bother the bloke was supposed to come today but when I told him it was a pre 2000 model he told is to change the full lock system and just disable the transponder unit so scrappy yards it is.

just disable the transponder unit so scrappy yards it is.

And how are you supposed to do that? The transponder unit is linked into the immobiliser. That is the whole point of it.

stand next to your car with your mobile phone and ask someone with the same car too lock the car (blip) over the phone.
Save the sound file and then one for unlock.
I here it works.
It wont let you drive but might lock it!
Just a thought.
Aaah but then it should be a different coded blip? try it.

just a line to say the key must be coded by garage or a good locksmith if you have codes
or the car will not start
