Hello all,

I have a problem with a 2010 VAG EDC17 CP20 ECU (TC1796).

The ECU was read and wrote via Boot mode no problem, tested on vehicle and then software tweaked and re written (Again by boot mode).

Now the vehicle no longer starts, coolant fan kicks in and the ECU has 01314 "ECU Module no signal /communication" fault. When the ignition is turned on there is no engine light until a few seconds later.

The ECU will ID, Read and Write fine in boot mode, however the problem is the ECU is stuck in boot / programming mode (Will ID and Read with no boot pin connected).

Has anyone ever come across this problem before?

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi M8,
Locked ecu, try with ori files or search for another ecu.

Did you solder boot pin or just make contact with it without solder?

If you soldered without proper isolated iron you may have damaged processor, or maybe some tin bridge still puts ecu in bootmode everytime you power it.

actually Boot pin on galletto is a ground cable... same as we did it tears ago, just that now galetto controlls it so we wont have to do it by hand.
maybe your connection is gorunded somewhere by mistake...
If not desolder flash, put ecu on car try to start, and put flash back in

Thanks for the replys guys.

Yes the boot pin was soldered, i have just ordered boot pin probe so no more soldering for me!

I shall try flashing original flash and eeprom with a few different tools and see if that helps.

Its strange how the ECU remains in Boot mode and will ID and read with no Boot pin connected.

Thanks

Hi,

Today i flashed original sofware back using both FG Tech and Byteshooter in boot mode, but the ECU remained in Boot mode.

Thanks

You have to measure the voltage on the boot pin. If is 0V, try to pull up with 1k resistor.
If no success, measure the current thru resistor and make your conclusion...

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I always use a 1k resistor when using boot mode.

Many thanks

This has nothing to do with bobolino's advice. Read it again ;)
