Tayio Yuden discs, is the writer a notebook writer ? if so try another writer, ie external writer or one thats in a PC tower if you have one.

ok 1, id check chip,
2, id burn the disc on another writer at a slower speed than you normally burn them.
3, if you can try the chip in another wii, see if the chip is gubbed or not.
4,if the chip is gubbed, softmod it m8.

i reseated the wii chip and same problem

so I thought, as I soft modded the wii i will try to launch the game thru the backup launcher - but the error message

DVD Read Error (349)

does that mean my DVD media is cr@p ?

Tayio Yuden discs are the best m8, so I would say it's not them, could be the writer ?
Try reinstalling the IOS249, use anytitle and delete IOS249 ,Only 249

ok done all that, some games work others get the either unreadible disk error or the error 349 in backup launch..now backup games work after giving the DVD a good clean so either the DVD are scratched or the DVD player is a bit iffy

anyone done the pot tweak on the DVD drive

decided to use the USB loader to play games, need to get a 500 GB HDD now

I take it you have the rev 9 installed with the usb loader?

I would also try to put 3.4 on the wii.

From the info on firmwares :Wii system software - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_System_Software)

3.4 has better disc handling. Or just try another brand of dvdrs
