When I try to download aj's channel list from this site winrar comes up with 'The archive is either unknown or damaged' but when I download the file from another site its fine....!

Strange.

Also,

When trying tp upgrade by usb on my skyboxf3 it doesnt recognise the file? Do I need to rename the file to .dbs?

I have never had problems with unzipping AJ's list although I've not tried it with winrar, I usually rely on windows default or 7zip. Did you remember just to copy the .dbs file in to the usb stick and not in any folder.

I had the same problem using Internet Explorer. If you're also using IE, try Firefox.

How would using a different web browser affect a downloaded file? I don't disbelieve you Hadron just curious if anyone knows why? Maybe something to do with the way different types of file are handled by the browser?

It was only when I had a similar problem downloading certain compressed files (not all) from these forums that I started Goggling around for an answer, since other members weren't having problems dowloading the same file.

It turned out to be more common than I thought. Here are a few examples:-

Download results in a corrupt Zip file for some and not for others - WinZip Computing :: Knowledgebase (http://kb.winzip.com/kb/entry/150/)

IE, IIS Dynamic compression and corrupt zip files - Microsoft Windows Vista Community Forums - Vistaheads (http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/microsoft-public-internetexplorer-general/367239-ie-iis-dynamic-compression-corrupt-zip-files.html)

Microsoft Community - Windows 8 - IE 10 Corrupting downloads (http://uk.search.yahoo.com/r/_ylt=A7x9QV97dOpRoQsA6g9LBQx.;_ylu=X3oDMTE1YjFydjh 1BHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDNwRjb2xvA2lyZAR2dGlkA01TWVVLMDJfN zU-/SIG=132rdkjmd/EXP=1374348539/**http%3a//answers.microsoft.com/en-us/feed/t/7b7b5e82-6ad2-442d-a5a6-3ffb4a130c23)

I was using IE9, but it seems to be a problem with different version numbers as well. I did try disabling HTTP 1.1, as suggested in the first link. It did work but gave other problems, so instead I just switch to Firefox if I encounter a corrupt compressed file.

One more reason not to use I.E although I stopped using it a number of years ago.:joyous:
