old petrol volvo holding back and dieing when hot issue, petrol fiter and pump relay changed but still stops and very hard to get going again, checked the petrol pumping back to tank and car died to rule out bad pump, seems to be good pressure, pulled coil lead from dist cap good spark from 1/2 to ground, also checked cap/rotor all good, crank sensor clean but unsure if faulty as do they just start to lose power and die,or like the renaults just dont start,or is the coil breaking down even though good spark,no fault codes, looking forward to translate meatys answer:top:

When it doesn't start try clamping off the return hose to the tank and see if it starts. I think may possibly be a bad pressure regulator on the fuel rail.

no does not seem to make any difference clamping the return pipe, one thing i hear is crackling like a spark hop with a slight odd miss and the hotter it gets the more pronounced it gets, checked cap and rotor no burn marks and no sign of spark hop from leads, interesting i have a strobe on the leads and it does miss the odd flash?

fitted new plug leads as they were breaking down when very hot but never got to find the bigger problem as customer collected car.
