Rover 75 mileage 999999

Had a call from a customer claiming he changed battery on car and now mileage is showing 999999.

Can this be repaired by re adjusting mileage on EEPROM using my smelecom Datasmart, TU, or digiprog or is it a bit more complicated.

Thought is check before taking job on thanks

Cant see why not the fords have a similar problem , and they just need redoing
