Hi Guys

I have a bad OKI M951G, Was able to read as 95C56x16 in the same way as I have done others like this, but this chip refuses to be written to, With Genuine UPA Xpro & Dataman..

I feel sure this chip is faulty or is protected in some way, I need to replace it with a part that will work, unless you know availability for this part in UK could you tell me what worked for you ?

This chip is in a Suzuki Vitara ecu.

Best Regards

I have the correct OKI chip now from a damaged Nissan ZEXEL unit :)

It seems to be a version of the 93C56 but with a smaller memory. My programmer gives an error when it attempts to programme the higher memory addresses which don't exist but it does programme it correctly.

Hello
I have founf solution to read it
I use elnec beeprog
select oki 16951
then SOP8 ( not SOP8x8)
It read and write fine !

The 16951 datasheet states that its compatible with the Catalyst CAT59C11, there are a few differences between the 16951 and the 93C56, primarily that the 16951 uses pin 7 as ready/~busy flag and the 93C56 has that pin as 'do not connect'.

Reading as 93c56 does not work, I have tried with carprog in circuit, off circuit with elnec beeprog, batronix bx48 and genuine xprog.
All failed, exept elnec, but you need to select oki 16951
then SOP8 ( not SOP8x8).
U will see that the file read is shorter than a normal 93c56 bin file.
Hope that helps!

I used a GQ-4X programmer set to 93C56, the only issue that I had is the verification fails because of the shorter memory length, the chip still reads and writes OK. I don't recall which speed setting I used.

I usually replace them with a 93C56 but it does depend on which programming algorithm is used by both the programmer and the ECU.

I used icprog software with a simple jdm programmer and replaced the memory chip with 93c56.
When I open the .bin file on some .bin files I had to choose YES when asked to swap bytes, and on some other .bin files I choosed NO, I don't know why this happens but I always try with two eeproms(one with bytes swapped and one with no bytes swapped) and see wich one works.

BeeProg can read it like MSM1695, here is example.

M951G is definitely a 59C11 and nothing else. Comprehensive testing with various programmers show that the chip may be read or erased with Microchip 93C56B (16b) setting, but write operation is often in failure or incomplete, no guarantee of success. No problem with 59C11 setting & GQ-4X programmer
