I Have installed, ubuntu 8.10 today, my first try at Linux it is a different kettle of fish.

Back to the class room.

Enjoy it mate, its worth having a play with.. However the latest version of ubuntu gets released today and would probably be even better for you. v9.04

you've started with the best for a beginner mate, if you fancy a more "bill Gatesy" feel.

install Kubuntu its just debian (which is what ubuntu is btw the way, free lesson of the day :P )

but it uses the KDE4 UI instead of GNOME which ubuntu uses which is more like OSX (iMac) in my opinion

either way, welcome to the right path lol
