Yes it's interesting.
Especially since many people know how.
But nobody wants to share the solution for free ...


So it is doable but I do not want to pay for an update without changing hardware.

Changing v53 to v54 means reflash mcu, i doubt you get such update "for free" unless you are proud owner of original v53 device and with subscription up to date.

Is this even possible to do that update ? HW is the same in china clone and EU clone ?

Obviously hw not the same. EU clone works 100% and for example my china clone is not working PWM FORD, other's china clone not working on kline... Etc

Maybe if you have china clone v53 100% working, there could be a chance.... Maybe...

China v53 will work on PWM ford if good MCU and FTDI inside! pcb and HW is same just different quality from what i can work out that china have just hacked the v53 software to work with the v48 firmware this is why PWM is not working ! well this is what i have found from around the WWW.....

Another note on peoples failures with Fgtech & reading Ecu,
Ram on pc, 2gb seems correct today i use V48 (ford Fomoco) 1gb - Times out, 2gb reads perfect,
I know V53 says 2gb, not sure V48. just thought i would comment on findings,

i can make update to v54 software work after on xp and win7 32 and 64 bits mcu need update and interface would ne tested on all line....and repair if does not work
