Hi there, I've installed some plugins in my DreamBox 800 HD PVR from Ferrari, when I restarted the machine to see what the boot-logo (Rihana) looks like and also to activate the other plugins , it did not re-boot or connect. I was told to flash it which I tried several times. The problem is that I don't know which image to choose and how long does it take to flash. Last night I left it to flash when I woke up in the morning it was still at the same point (neither uploading nor flashing). I also tried Dream-up it did not work for me. What would be the problem or what can I dod to reboot my machine ?

Should take mere minutes through the web browser method and not more than half an hour through dreamup ... I'm from Singapore and looks like u r from UK but these timings are universal

Did the image upload go well?

No mate, it did not upload at all.. I pointed the browser to the .nfi file, clicked flash, nothing happened all night long. I tried that several times.

Might be a hardware issue I'm afraid ... do try different versions of dreamup, one of them might work

I've tried several images including 'Ferrari-SSL82F-OpenPLi-2.0-beta-dm800-20110705' am still not having any luck. I've noticed that a lot of people are taking about using the right image, so I will keep on trying other images until the right one is accidently picked.

Just make sure you only use images for Ferrari and not sim2 as you will semi brick the box. Flashing takes minutes with web browser method, Andy.

Also guessing with you being from UK its a sat box and not cable? Might get more help if it is a sat box and if it was moved to dreambox sat section, Andy.

When the box boots it will tell you on the oled display, if that don't show up take the cover off and locate the sim card. Only a few screws, Andy.

If your flashing the correct type of image ie: Bootloader and Sim type it could be that the nandflash has become corrupt in some way

when the DM800 boots up the display screen will indicate both the sim and bootloader that are on it currently

Sorry for the delay, I went to the shop.
My machine does not reach that point, it boots and immediately show '/flash/vmlinux.gz' on its LCD display.

I think I will have to remove the cover to check, because my machine only display '/flash/vmlinux.gz' on the LCD and that's the furthest it reach. Thanks Andy

It may have a label on it somewhere then that tells you what Sim is inside

It has a label but only has S/N and Mac number.
Thanks Andy for all the help, I feel I am being a pain in the backside.
I tried nearly every trick I could find in the past three or four days. The way everyone explains the solution looks so simple, but I have lost a stone trying to understand why I can't put them into practice.>>>>>> '' It's either I am too dumb to understand, or the box is dead '' I feel the first is appropriate.

do you have it hard wired to router ? not homeplugs, had a similar issue and turned out to be homeplugs wouldn't allow the "traffic" to the dreambox

hi alyamani
ok first make sure you have Ethernet cable plugged into router and the other end into the dreambox then
push the silver power button holding it down while plugging in the power cable at the back and if the display shows you ***STOP*** an IP address something like this 192.168.1.12 you are good to go simply start your web browser ie; Google chrome or Internet Explorer go to http:// and clear it now just put in the ip address showing on the front of your dreambox and hit enter you should get something like this

DM800 second stage loader #84 (2011-09-02)

If you see this, your Dreambox (http://192.168.1.99/info.dhtml) didn't boot the Linux kernel. Unless you interrupted the boot process, this usually means that your Dreambox doesn't have a valid operating system installed.
Don't worry! It's not a problem. You can just flash (http://192.168.1.99/upgrade.dhtml) a new version and everything will be fine!
Otherwise, you can boot from network (http://192.168.1.99/BOOT?/tftp) or USB (http://192.168.1.99/BOOT?/usb/autoexec.bat).
If you're about to give up, you might get help at the Dream Multimedia Support board (http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/board/)!
You can download the current flash content (http://192.168.1.99/FLASH), but please don't expect to be able to flash it back. It's merely a debugging feature.

Device information (http://192.168.1.99/info.dhtml)

now click on device information and let me know that info plus what it says at the top like this DM800 second stage loader #84 (2011-09-02) then we can take it from there.
