Hi guys

my man has asked me to swap out his mid line with a highline dash.

I extracted both pins from dash with my avdi but neither will take the pin when im trying to get security access in vcds.

so im going down the route of reading the micronas and 24c32 eeprom

has anyone successfully done this ??

ive read a few threads but mixed results

so i thoughts id ask here and see if there is any fresh info out there

i have upa usb
XprogM
avdi

im hoping its going to be painless when doing this

in avdi i can read immo data with dashboard can option
now it dosent show any info in the immo boxes below but i have a bit of data in the eeprom view window.
Was wondering if i can read this data from the orig clocks and flash to the donor clocks ??

any help n tuts greatly appreciated

Attached is a pic of my daughter board. Slightly different from my xprogM pics.

If you have Avdi then you do not need help
read pin in ecu

ecu would not ID !!
yes i have orig avdi

i tried to read pin from dash and verify with pin from ecu, this is how i always do it.
i put new clocks in then and read the pin same way.
but no pins are getting accepted.

The picture from the PCB is a pre 06/2006 dashboard. any clone tool can pull immoblock data from it...
If you have original then it should be no big deal. Read immoblock from original dash and transfer to new one.
If it fails, there is something wrong with your AVDI.

MY AVDI is perfect working order (orig) not clone.

you think i can just connect to the car with orig clocks in and read immo data and save the data and swap dash and then write this data over to the new dash ??

Yes , this is how you do those dashes.
Only thing is you have to know is it new dash made before or after 06/2006.

What is the part numbers for both dashes?

why does he need to know? original dash is before 06/2006. Any dash before or after 2006 will work in it...

there is no date on this new cluster guys !!
VW 1K0 920 971C <---part number.

so it should be a simple plug and play job then

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c188/dave11674/abritus_zpsce8a7829.jpg

with orig clocks in...
1 read immo data
2 immo data is shown here
3 save file as 'orig immo.bin'

swap clocks

with donor clocks now in the car...
1 read immo data
2 immo data is shown here
3 save file as 'donor immo.bin'
4 load from file & write 'orig immo.bin'

thinking this is nice n easy n hope it works :)

otherwise its back to micronas way
can some1 overlook my diag and see if it looks ok ?

Ive done plenty of these cluster/ecu swaps all through OBD. An early version of commander is enough.
Are you reading from the cluster or from the immo block or ecu?
I would be reading from the cars ecu and new cluster then adapting in vcds.

did you remember to enter a 5 digit pin number prefixed with zero?
Immobilizer IV Immobilizer Swapping (Instrument Cluster) - Ross-Tech Wiki (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer_IV_Immobilizer_Swapping_%28Instrument_ Cluster%29#Instrument_Cluster_Swapping_.28Used_Clu ster.29)
First proper post here, hope it helps!

you will need working keys for both dashes to get the immo data though

Not on this dash.
This dash can be read with out working key and most dashes till 2008.

This is very easy job.
Forget about X-Prog. put that cluster back and do this:
With original dash in the car read Immo data(1), save it in your computer" original dash immo data.bin"
With new dash in it read immo data(1) save it in your computer "new dash immo data.bin"
Stay connected with AVDI and hit write immo data , load " original dash immo data.bin", write it in cluster and jib is done.

What,
?800 license???

All you need for this job AN 022 and it is 300 euros:
AN022 - VAG Micronas programmer-software (http://abrites.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=57&product_id=68)

If you want to buy extra software just buy them direct form link above, you do not have to buy them form distributors.

Hi guys

I have a golf 5 2.0tdi which im trying to swap instrument cluster on due to failure. i have read the immo data with vag commander 3.6 from both original and replacement cluster and tried writing the original file over. The data is written ok in all sections except the pin dosnt change?
Also the original pin comes back as 722, i thought it should be 4 digits as with the replacement cluster read? Can anyone help please

Thanks in advance

I've had one today - damn thing can't reset steering angle sensor.
did an immo off which was un-necessary and wonder if that's blocking it

Hello.
1) your kind of dash can't extract pin ust by eeprom, you must read flash too,to have pin code.
