You will need Tech 2 to program this remote to the car! no onboard programming.

If you have X100, try the Hummer choice in the menu, I've used it on later years without the DIC dash.

Automat, no..i didnt get the chance, customer was kind of disappointed and bought just the remote from me and went to the dealer to program and guess what...the dealer wouldnt program it too. customer returned back the remote
SO i think remote itself is culprit here.. so i did a detail research and this is what i found out.. there are two remotes which looks exactly same, same frequency and both with 4 buttons
One is used for Tahoe, Suburban, Sierra, avalanche etc
and other one for Malibu and cobalt
I wish if i can the part number for this malibu remote. Does anyone know where can i get the part numbers of this remote?? or may be FCC id or something

I think you have the wrong remote or a bad remote, should be 315 mhz. I have done the same car with the Maxidas no problems.

You might try this: It is Mike Hyde's " National " website , has remotes with the number from backside of remote Chevy, Page 2 (http://www.michaelhyde.com/Chevy_c_8170-2-4.html)

But what do u do when customer who doesn't have any remote need a new one. How do u get fcc id based on the car model? Is there any locksmith guide to refer too
Has anyone never been in this situation before or is it only me?

There is no complete database or reference manual.
Two options, call dealer with the VIN and ask for the part number for the remote for the car. This way you will find out if it has autostart, trunk release, power sliding door etc.
Google it, thats how I found the part number and frequency for the Malibu you are having trouble with.
You can also try this website as a place to start Remote Cross Reference (http://spotco2.com/1testt.htm)
