Don't know if you would consider a petrol lawnmower for your mum Lainie but this one is within your price range, it really wouldnt matter if its petrol or electric tbh, as long as she can start it I guess.

If her lawn is not big just get her the smallest and cheapest hover mower. She won't have to sit till the grass dries completely like you need to do with most mowers.

Buy Hover mowers at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Lawnmowers. - (10 products) (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Browse/ID70/12107720/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CGarden+and+DIY%7C12107492/c_2/2%7Ccat_12107492%7CLawnmowers%7C12107719/c_3/3%7Ccat_12107719%7CHover+mowers%7C12107720.htm?cmp id=GG05X&kwmid=6704975&kmcid=3558069535&match_type)=

Alternatively, if you are in this area, let me know and you can 'take' mine. I will leave the back gate open. You will need to be quick though. This area is that bad they even tried to steal the neighbourhood watch.:roflmao:

a petrol mower is out im afraid - she is 73. she has a lawnmower and my sister is a bit of a garden lover but my mum would like to cut the grass herself at times and wanted something light an easy to use. i kinda wanted to stay away from ones with wheels as well as its just more cleaning. i also want one that picks up the grass.

i went onto the web last night but ended up bamboozling myself. i dont have a garden myself as its all communal grass around me. i did look at argos, tesco direct and b&q websites and i kinda liked this one

Buy Flymo Hover Compact 350 Mower. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for . (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7303133/c_1/1|category_root|Garden+and+DIY|12107492/c_2/2|cat_12107492|Lawnmowers|12107719/c_3/3|cat_12107719|Hover+mowers|12107720.htm)

wasnt sure if flymo was the best make to go for

thank you all for your replies

Lainie the one you have flagged up will do the job fine. Its light and small enough so your mum should have no problems with it.
