After seeing this thrEad I downloaded rocket dock(good software)and this is my latest desktop http://thumbnails12.imagebam.com/3551/ea3b9d35506606.gif (http://www.imagebam.com/image/ea3b9d35506606)
Free Image Hosting by ImageBam.com (http://www.imagebam.com) pretty basic,but easy on the eye! ps.if anyone lese wants to upload a pic of thier desktop but dont know how heres how its done to save you surfin......on your keyboard to the right of the f12 key press print screen(nothing will happen)open up an image editor eg Photoshop select file new and then on the blank paper go into edit and press paste and the stored image will get pasted onto the blank paper...merge them and save!hope this helps someone.

same thing as opsmonkey, i just use ctrl+shift+whatever to launch my stuff off my windows machine.
ctrl+shift+F11 = foobar
ctrl+shift+insert = visual studio
ctrl+shift+F9 = firefox etc
i only really use this machine for some browsing, torrenting and compiling windows/xbox code. occasionaly i'll fire up a game.
my slackware system doesnt have a desktop, its purely for compiling code and besides executing programs from the commandline is just as easy as navigating menus.
i just use a minimal xfce setup for any gui work i need to do, none of it has any bells and whistles to detract me from working.
Ive used several 3d interfaces in the past but to be honest they cut donw my productivity and take way too long to navigate.
shortcuts = superior.
