Connecting a Network switch

Hi guys I want to add another device to my network but have no space on my router, I have purchased a 5 port switch but not sure how to configure it .do all the devices connected to a switch need to have a static ip address Thanks guys

No. They are mainly plug and play. I run multiple switches in multiple rooms and all function without any problems
