EDC16U1 serch solution

EDC16U1 has a mind of it's own, car sometimes starts sometimes not.

Does anyone has a solution, DTC in other modules is that they don't have the communication with ECM (01314 -004). ECM number is 0281011859.

Check here they dont think the same way as you. I would undersand if it si some other car than Treg, It would be 109 but here I dont know. I will work trough your idea anyway thanks.

i had such similar problem on golf 5, i think u have to change ecu

I prefer repair it due the price of the second hand and the possibility that the second hand is going to have same problem, because one expert from dk explained me what is the real problem on these. Anyway thanks everyone.

Immo off I can do my self but, autorisation of immo is not the problem, thans anyway that is kind of you. Here I have comunicaton problems ecm does not respond to other ecus. 01314 004 vcds read that DTC in almost all ecus.

Communication between the immobilizer and engine via the CAN could be an issue, however, also a power supply/ground condition for the ecu supply relay, or even faulty ignition switch....

I have that problem early and as relay I think 219 or 214 in same box were is ecu.I think have 2 fuse and 2 relay one make problem often

I conected ecu on bench and same problem. Ecu when cold good comunication when hot just identification. I think ECU is the problem. I will recive secondhand ecu next and then we will see.

Yes this its common problem for EDC16U1, I have alreadi few of them. I usualy change the ECU. But I have figured out it is problem in Flash. ECU have power supply but does not boot up. You can only make the ID over K or CAN line and ECU dos not communicate with other modules - car will not start.

Try to read the ECU via BDM port. You will probably see that a part of the flash its corrupted, so you should re-flash the The whole ECU and heat up the Flash and MCU and car should run good, but I don't know for how long.

Ecu is damaged , video above it me proving there is a broken track or bad connection on the processor which temporarily fixes with heat

I think that my mpc is the problem. I tried to resolder it with some flux and hot air but no luck it sould be properly reballed, bdm eather could not conect it say no external power when I put some other ecu bdm works perfectly so that led me to think that faulty is in mpc still waiting for may secondhand ecm will let you all how it sorted in the end...

Reballing is a solution!!! I have cople of those ecu's witch i fix it.

I got secondhand ecu, on these I need just to swap 95320 or something more. Normaly I would read bdm and clone it but old one is dead.

I immo offed it now no dts starts and works perfectly.

After 3000km and a month car came back but on truck, it does not start again. I thought it is same problem as last time, but I was wrong, this time ecu is ok(I think).

I can accses ECU adn all MBV, read DTC erase DTC, same as rest of modules that means MPC and Flash are booting corectly. I controled all earth pins and +15 +30, I briged 109 but no joy. The car does not start, CAN H and CAN L wires have resistance 52ohm.


ECU has a permanent DTC:
-18059 - P1651 Data Bus Powertrain Missing Messages
-18080 - P1672 Coolant Fan Control 1: Open or Short to Ground
-18308 - P1900Coolant Fan Control 2:Open or Short to Ground
fan error are there because when I but ignition they start to run and I disconnected them

In other modules like ABS, Transmision, Can Gateway I have only:

-01314 - Engine Control Module
004 - No Signal/Communication

and in kessy I have this one too

-01299 - Diagnostic Interface for Data Bus (J533): No Communications



Any idea or your experience is welcome

fans run when ecu software gets corrupted . put the original bdm full read from car into new ecu

try to cahange CAN transciver from ecu

OK will try with BDM first if it does not work I will try changing checking can inside ecu.

Problem solved (hope this time for more then month) it was internal fault in ecu.

Starts as new.

Thanks everybody specially to user smayer (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/members/291314-smayer/) he gave me solution a month ago I was blind to see it.
finally what was the problem? it is a common fault?? thanks
