Hi, my first post so please be gentle
I've just bought a Starview 4. The intention is to use it in Spain in my apartment on a huge complex, where the English FTA satellite channels are being re-distributed as DVB-C Free To Air channels.
The box has not arrived yet, but reading a few threads here, it all sounds a bit complicated ! I assumed I would just plug it in and set up an Auto-Scan. But I see all sorts of stuff about having to download software, firmware etc.
I will have no PC access in Spain, so my worry is that it could be a trial and error thing bringing a USB stick to and from Spain, downloading something new, trying that, going back there again, and having months and months elapse before I can get it working !
If the channels are ultimately scrambled, would that be Game Over for me and my box, or could a new download un-encrypt them again ?
I am totally new to Cable TV, never used or even seen it in my life, but am technically competent when it comes to fiddling with satellite boxes, altering settings, scanning for channels etc.
I'm not going to be using it to record programmes, just watch them when they're on.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
