Hi

I am wanting to replace my subscription with Virgin and am considering getting Netflix/Lovefilm. But I know the kids will miss shows like cbeebies. We have a terrible aerial and as it's a rented place, I'm not really going to get it changed. We do have a dish already connected so I am considering Free to Air. I got an old FTA box but it doesn't have a PVR so that's a bit of a no-go. I currently also run XBMC on my laptop to watch stuff I've ripped off my DVDs, but that's a pain as I can't use the laptop while the Mrs is watch a show for example.

So that's the history, my questions are:

* Can the skybox or similar box be modified to run XBMC and play media off my NAS?
* Is it possible to watch Netflix/Lovefilm on it? I have done some searching and there are some articles and people who have made this work on Linux. (I'm assuming this box is running linux on it)

If this box isn't suitable, can anyone suggest something please? I don't really want to spend too much (more than ?80) otherwise it'll defeat the objective of cancelling the subscription and getting a separate box and getting Netflix etc.

I know I could buy two boxes (an android box and the skybox etc.) but that's also quite inconvenient and wastes more electricity and means another remote etc.

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

skybox is very limited in functions, moving up to a better box like vu solo2 could but much more expensive, possibly a solo could as been enigma2 box,but for recording a twin tuner is needed, does your freeview over there work with an indoor powered aerial?
sure laptops can use xbmc.

A Cloned cloud iBox will set you back about ?60-?70 if you can get hold of one and will give you the basic FTA satellite channels as well as installing TSmedia have a read here: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f207/tsmedia-enigma2-plugin-332694/ will give you something similar to netflix it will also be able to play your media from your NAS drive

Thanks. That's the kind of advice I was looking for. I will search on those two recommended tonight and see what I can find.
