Bappy Holiday: Burger 'Pilgrimage' Launched
The world's first burger pilgrimage has been announced allowing 'food tourists' to pay homage to the humble fast-food.

Food pilgrims will follow the evolution of the burger from Medieval times to today.

The itinerary takes in 16 cities in eight countries that are deemed to have played a pivotal role in the evolution of the burger.

The Burger Pilgrimage Trip, cooked up by fast-food giant Burger King, will take 35 days to complete and cost a whopping ?3,400.

It is aimed at the rapidly growing number of 'food tourists'.

Historically, the burger started as a meatball in classical Roman times, with more sophisticated versions developing in the Middle Ages.

Sarah Power, marketing director of Burger King in the UK and Ireland said: "Contrary to popular opinion, the burger has both an interesting and surprising history, which this new trip highlights.

Customers can now explore all the other cities that have made the burger into the food icon that it is today."

Celia Pronto, marketing director of trip organiser STA Travel said: "It seems that our taste for foreign food and travel has really developed over the years."
