hello all, I have calterm and a bench harness hooked to a isx cm870 ecm how or what do I need to pull my file from the ecm to make changes? I've read on here about something called an .e2m file and a .ecfg file what are these? and do I need anything else to mod my ecm? anything I need to get started? p.s. guys if you guys need any cat factory passwords, just ask. I can gererate, I have dealer access. I may also be able to help with some diag, I troubleshoot hard to diag problems for people. I just don't wanna ask for something without offering in return. thanks!!!

You need the correct e2m or ecfg file for the ECM model you are working. A Cm870 will use a e2m file, I believe some older engine used ecfg files.

Sorry friend but that is not correct. The later engines use ecfg. files.

Hello all,
I?m newbie with CALTERM III sw tool. I need to change max RPM and increase 250 RPM due to application on QSL9 ECM 850 , ECM CODE W90572.02, ECM part number 4921776, option DO 90921, option SC 9621. The thing is I know is necessary special files to access to ECU with CALTERM. As I red in other threads, for old engines is necessary e2m files but for new core ECM and COMMON RAIL engines is necessary cfgm files. My doubts on this matter as follow:
1. Every ECU has its own file to access with CALTERM and modify parameters and calibration or is for family engine, application, SW fase or options on engine? So, is there a family ECU file or unique for any individual ECU?
2. What is exactly the function of this files to use CALTERM and access to ECU? With INSITE we don?t need any special file for any family ECU or engine!!
3. CALTERM it doesn?t have internal generic files to access any ECU in standard mode? let?s say
4. Could be possible this files are the arrange map or internal memory dealing with microprocessor and how to access them and modify?
5. Someone can explain how to upload the file to CALTERM and then comunicate with ECU? I tried, but with no success to connect ECU!!!
6. Someone can provide the file for QSL9 ECM850 with data I mention above? It?s really necessary to increase this 250RPM
7. Anybody did this change before to increase RPM limit on this ECM? Is associated to any parameter to be modified by CALTERM.
Any advice, guidelines or "tricks" on dealing with CALTERM would be really apreciated, I?m getting started.
Thanking in advance to everybody .
P.D. Sorry to repeat this questions on this thread, but I don?t know which one is more suitable to the questions placed.
