Hey guys, went to do an audi A6 2005 today and did the following:
Plugged in with digiprog 3
Went to Audi then A6 then A6 2004- (4f) then -2008 Diag
read correct miles so i programmed new miles and then nothing changed? so i unplugged the battery for a few minutes and then refitted it and still the mileage had not changed? So i repeated the procedure exactly read correct miles, programmed new miles and then i did not even need to remove the battery the miles had changed! so i left the job, but the customer has just called and said the old mileage is back? he did not check when he got in the vehicle so he is not sure whether it jumped back straight away or not. Anyone had this before? im going to go back and try again diagnostic, but was wondering if anyone had this problem before or anyone got any good ideas?

There is a dash of passat where if you do not at least go a few kilometers after the correction old km are back. Why do not you try to go a few miles immediately after the correction...

umm very strange ill try what shmortz said and do a few miles after i do it again, I've done plenty with my dp3 no problem, and same as sepistar said no issues like this but i thought i would just ask and see if anyone had encountered this before.

what do you mean? drive 100km before correcting mileage or drive 100km after changing it?
Also if it does need repairing, how do i repair it?

I think there's something not right with your digi pal as this is second car with miles jumping back maybe it's a bad clone

i was thinking that swell, but i have done about 12 cars with it with no problems? either a new one or even an updated SW might sort it?

Depending on A6/Q7 cluster the mileage is changed in the RAM of the dashboard. You need to drive 100km so the dash will write the new value to the eeprom.

Nothing wrong with your tool, it's what you are doing that is the problem. Connect to the OBD2 socket and program the miles to zero. Leave the ignition on. Remove a battery terminal and replace it. Check the car now displays 0 miles. Now program it to the miles you require. (the car may now display the km value of the miles ie. 50,000 miles but shows 80,000 kms). Remove and replace the battery terminal again. If the car now shows the required value everything is ok. If not, start again. This way the miles will not jump back. It is the A6 and Q7 2004-2008 where this happens. Arthur.

Change to kilometers and try it, no need to remove battery terminal... just remove the fuse for Instrument Cluster and jobs done!

AlexandruP, it cannot jump back if you zero the display but it can if you don't. Although pulling the dashboard fuse works, I feel safer taking the battery off. As this guy doesn't appear to know exactly what he is doing it's better to get him used to removing a battery terminal than remembering which cars to remove a fuse and which not to! Arthur.

To be honest I wasn't going to help him because from his post he seems like one of the ***** with digiprog charging ?5 a correction.
PS: ***** is not an offensive word

Perhaps he is only just starting in the job and has not got a lot of money. He may only be able to afford a digi at the moment but he may have a DP3 and an Enigma as well but just likes trying his digi! He may even be moving in next door to you. You just never know! Arthur.

The commanding officer is quite corrrrrect,
I have had at least half a dozen like this, I always whip the dash fuse out as quick as a hare darshing thro` the leana.
uaireannan, I even resort to going for a wee jaunt in th` theng te make sure.
Thats with the dp3 and smelecom

for your information i do not charge peanuts for jobs i charged ?80 for this one, thanks for your help and advice people, i will try as the captain said later. by the way i do also have a DP3 but im using the digiprog because my DP3 is out of action at the minute (needs new screen)
never had this issue with the dp3 but i have noticed that when doing A6 and Q7 with the DP3 it changes it to zero before the new miles, that is probably why!

been back today, tried changing it to 0 miles but it changed to 68 miles? then i changed it to 87500miles but it showed 54380 which is 87500/1.609 =54380 ! bit stange so i programmed it again at 140787 which /1.609 gives you 87500 and the mileage changed to 87495 miles, close enough so i did a couple of miles in the vehicle to check it changed and it did go up 1 by 1. So hopefully that is the end of it and i will not have to go back and change it again and do 100km in the vehicle. Thanks for all your help and advice on this matter.

Sometimes digi reads miles in km and vice versa on vw Audi it's stupid
Also on A6 & Q7 the mileage can show up in km side if your machine has miles and km like my smelecom

Is your screen physically broken ie broken glass or does it just not work? If it is broken glass, carefully remove the screen driver board from the back and save it for further use. If it has just stopped working it is probably a transistor blown on the driver board. Arthur.
