i just use one of these badboys Plexus USB to IDE & SATA Adapter With Power Adapter (Supports 2.5"/3.5" IDE & Serial ATA Hard Disk) - Ebuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143274)
it doesnt have an enclosure but it lets me hook up just about anything to my laptop.

Extra Value 3.5" USB2.0 Hard Drive Enclosure for upto 1.5TB SATA Hard Drives - Retail - Ebuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149272) is the cheapest 3.5" enclosure i could find outside of ebay.
