View Full Version : BMW E53 / X5 - faulty dash ?

CARPARTS

Hi

BMW X5 - 2005. With original dash, all needles goes, but control lights doesn't work (blinking lights etc...)
Also radio doesn't work

Putting a second hand dash (with another VIN number), all control lights from dash work, also radio works now...

Can a faulty (?) dash shut down the radio in this BMW ? And shut down also the steering-wheel-servo ?

2e question ; when radio works, i get radio-screen with the next message :
Can anyone explain what this message means and what's the purpose of this ?

Screen lock is in settings and code can be found in handbooks or a user defined one, find some one with relevent diagnostic gear ie icom and reconfigure

Indeed, 0000 is working, but is it possible that a faulty dash can shut-down the radio ?

Was this after you played with it or did it arrive like that?

Sometimes, if you programme by soldering to back of board, you can disturb solder connection on the smd that you soldered to. This can make dash dead.

Nope, was coming in like that. Nobody even touched this odometer.

What you see on screen will protect the radio ..... if you modify your code vehicle will not start at the same time activates the alarm

I solved this issue

With the original dash, radio don't work, steering assyst don't work..... and all (led) lights in the dash from control like blinking lights, beam, park etc
-lights in the dash DON'T light up when its activated.

So i changed the dash with another dash from another x5, and all lights work, radio work, all oke
BUT the alarm start indeed to work also, unless you put the code "0000" in the radio-screen.
(i didn't change the VIN number yet)

When i changed the vin number to the original vin-number from car, ALL work perfect.
(you only need to adapt (IKE-EWS) with PA-SOFT or similar software)

Writing another dump will not help. You need to change the complete dash by some second hand.
So its some hardware fault INside the dash itselfs

fault = "I-line dash faultly" according PA-soft

hope this help you out

you put the second hand dash inside the car
you go with that v1.40 pa soft to "IKE"
then to "coding"
then you see "list" from "IKE - EWS" and some "EWS to IKE" and some more items.....
choose the "ews to ike" menu (not the other)
then it does automatic the coding
done

now you will see also ion "car identification" the info filed is not RED color anymore which means its now adapted to the car

Does EWS to IKE also code the VIN?

I changed VIN already manually before I did this "EWS to IKE programming" , so i don't know.
