Hi Guys,

As you probably know the F5 receiver/remote is so poorly build. You have to go right next to the receiver with the remote to change the channel. Do you have any recommendation on a fix to this? or just buy another receiver ?I've tried a USB IR transmitter but that hasn't worked.

Thanks in advance

The problem is either the ir reciever or some other hardware on the box (Definatley not the remote) try a magnifying glass in front of ir reciever.

open the Skybox case and reposition the IR diode in its window...mine was sitting at a weird angle and only worked from about 2ft.....now it works easily from 12ft...new F5s i have isn't great either but I haven't opened it YET.
I proved the remotes with an old IR receiver that flashes at any IR signal and the remotes are fine.....i prefer the layout of the newer remotes but they all do the same job.

nope....it was such a simple job i never thought that much about it...took maybe 5 minutes and 99% of that was getting the case open and closed.
once you get the case open it will be obvious if the IR diode is lined up properly with the whole in the front.

Thats was my next question to you? :-) how did you open the case? does the top just unclip off?

Is there a knack to getting the tops off these boxes without snapping off the clips?

Check this thread as this fixed my problem

I can now point my remote anywhere in the room & it turns the channel

Make sure you hit it in the middle as I'm sure the clips will be around the edge.

That should do the job nicely!
