I'll cut right to the chase, I need someone to hold my hand & guide me through setting this thing up. It's been a long time since I played with a box (cable) & I don't want to **ck it up.

Satsmo has been kind enough to point me to an editor, Crossepg & Cool Tv. I'm just not sure where to start.

The main problem is with the EPG. It only populates the now & next section, but only if you manually go through every channel & select each in turn. At the moment there is no HDD attached, but that will be solved tomorrow.

The closest this has to a plugin section is the Applications menu that has the youtube, you~~~~, etc shortcuts. This also has an FTP option that takes you to a list of non functioning server addresses.

I should quietly whisper that this has been setup with server access prior to being delivered. So I really don't want to be changing things that will disrupt the access to this.

If I can just get the EPG, or another EPG, to work correctly for the next 3-7 days, She'll be happy and might stop nagging me.

This is all the box details I have right now...

Let the slagging off commence....

These stupid retarded boxes are closed software, no Enigma2 or even Spark.

The support from the UK supplier so far is laughable. If anyone so much as mentions a different box being better, easier to use or work with... they let rip with a torrent of hostile reasons why they can't compare older boxes to these new ones.

Here's the reply I got regarding the EPG ...

The Amiko (http://www.sat-shop.co.uk/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=amiko) HD range (Micro, 8140, Mini SE etc.) are closed source receivers hence no way to install third party addons such as CrossEPG. Only now and next on the EPG on the likes of 28.2 East though shouldn't be confused with the receivers not supporting a 7 day EPG, they do, it's the providers themselves that need to support transmitting EPG data in a standard format, swing your dish round to some German FTA on 19.2 East for example and you'll have a full 7 day EPG but the likes of Sky on 28.2 East don't use a standard format for EPG hence generally now and next at best.

If you need full day EPG on the likes of 28.2 East then you need a receiver that's capable of using a third party addon to grab the EPG data (note it's still using a third party way here, as standard even these would give you now and next at best on 28.2 East). For this kind of third party EPG support you would need to jump up to something Spark or Enigma2 based such as the Amiko (http://www.sat-shop.co.uk/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=amiko) Alien / Alien 2 (Spark) or the Opticum AX-ODIN / Optibox (http://www.sat-shop.co.uk/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=optibox) EVO M7 (Enigma2).

My advice... don't buy this box.

Anyone got a sat tuner for an ITgate TGM220?

The Words 'Amiko' and 'Barge Pole' often appear in the same sentence occasionally
