A friends starview box has been working fine for a while now but has packed in for some reason, no power.
It is a starview 1, from the pictures and info here I think its a clone. I have the instructions to jtag it but when I opened the box to look inside it does not have the soldering pads on the board like in the jtag instructions pics but instead there are pins. I wanted to ask if someone else's starview has this? Could I solder the wires onto these pins and try jtagging!? It is very fiddly though!. Thanks in advance

Checked the caps, there are no obvious leaks or any damage. I have jtagged a starview previously which used to lose power occasionally even though the correct firmware was flashed on it and I would have to revive it again via jtag, hence I thought this might be similar. The difference is where you jtag there are pins not solder pads as in the jtag pics. Is anyone else come across a box like this?

Sounds like the Starview 1 genuine model, but it is belonging to the first batch that came to market.

Its a while since I have seen one, but from memory these where the jtag points:

TP12 = TCK (WHITE)
TP13 = TRST (BLUE)
TP14 = TMS (YELLOW)
TP15 = TD0 (GREEN)
TP16 =TD1 (RED)
Black to ground.

Take the VCC from the top end of C40 near the CPU.

Cheers, I will have a go at it and let you know how it goes, I tested all the caps with a screwdriver tester for a live current when switched on and it showed power coming through so hopefully I can jtag it back to life.
