Hi,

I'm looking to ditch my Sly+ box for something a bit more feature rich and have read a lot about the Vu+ Duo. I think I've got the right idea but want to make sure before I go spending my money. If I understand correctly, the Duo will allow me to view one channel and record another, will allow me to stream over my local network and to Android devices and will allow a full EPG. Is this correct?

I currently have a full Sly subscription including 3D. Would I be able to use my current dish to view all of these channels on the Duo? Will the Duo read my card? How does it work with Sly's on-demand service, can it work?

Also, my Sly subscription is currently half price, this runs out in March. If I were so inclined, could I view Sly premium channels without a subscription on the Duo (I'm aware you are unable to tell me how on this forum but just seeking whether it's possible).

Last question, I had made my mind up on the Duo when I then read a little about the Gigablue boxes but not as much, can they do all of the above too? Are they better/cheaper?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,
Paul

to answer your questions...

1. yes if fitted with a HDD
2. for the moment yes, and no for on demand
3. for the moment yes
4. the VU+ would be my choice although the gigablue quad is nice

imo id say run your slybox until the sub runs out then get yourself a spiderbox 6000hd, darkmotor, triax td88 dish , T,K and pole and inverto black ultra all for less than ?200 or ?300 fitted. theres much more out there than sly. you could then google C**** if you wanted to learn about what we cant discuss. this wont give you full watch one record another compatability but with a cheap usb HDD added you can at least record, regards mdt

the vu duo , vu solo 2 and vu duo 2 will certainly do as you wish, and the gigablue gets good reviews , as does the tm twin tuner one as well (similar to the duo)
