Hi true grit, this is a portable PDF viewer so, you can download it and put it on your desktop.

The Portable Freeware Collection - PDF-XChange Viewer (http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1436)

A good alternative to Microsoft word and free is open office.
Available from OpenOffice.org
