I have the above car and both keys lost coding after flat battery, I see 2 diagnostic plugs, obd in car and kia under bonnet, I think I need to use under bonnet plug to program keys back, any one have a pin out for this plug, and how to connect it to obd type plug?

I think ori cable for ad is adc132, need pinout please.

Also, what tools can do this once comms is established?

Thanks for any info, ninja

Definately use OBD inside vehicle. I have programmed 2004 with SBB under carnival 02-05 and 2005 (55 reg) AD100 under smatra type 8.
AVDI should also do this.

avdi no go, asks for pin then after a wait says no go. SBB says invalid pincode, but does say 0 keys programmed, avdi will not pull pincode, but calcs the same pin as every other tool.

Will try your suggestions and report back - funny thing is, RAC said timing belt jumped, so this car has had a cam belt change for nothing :)

select hyundai type 2 then neutralise the ecu if it has been spiked probably has a fuse popped

do i have to neutralise the ecu? or do you mean if key programming dont solve issue then neutralise?

thanks for your reply.

Im going back to this tomorrow, so ill report back.

went back to this car today and still no go, tried as carnival, connects ok and says zero keys stored, enter pincode and says invalid pincode, tried with mvp hyundai system 2, same thing, not valid pincode, tried neutralise and no different, also tried the limp home option with pincode 2345 but says wrong pin.

Also, got no immo light on dash, and no glowplug light either, all fuses ok and got comms with ecu.

Could this be a faulty ecu? or possibly someone put used ecu set from other car so pin is wrong?

Thanks for any info, ninja

hi there
spent a day on a kia picanto 2006-2007 got vin from license disc, got the pin code, old code , accepts pin under 2007 on mvp, pre code 7936 on zedbull, takes token , but no go. used about 10 tokens wat a waste, tried diff 7936 pre code on avdi no go, tried under 2006 year said access
denied, it also said 2 keys , then said ecu status learnt , key status virgin, tried a few times then locked ecu, left ignition on for a while , then also got 0 keys programmed, ecu status not check, key status not check, I did not neutralise at all as heard i must not do that, then we decide to
pull ecu, I notice on passenger side door a sticker with vin, not the same as the license disc, so covert to old pin, go through the 2006 system that said access denied before not the 2007 system that accepted pin and sucked my tokens and the pin was accepted and key programmed, also avdi could not read any of the components on car for faults, not sure why, I did have to power up mvp from battery pack as there was no power on obd, maybe that was it, so lesson learnt for me , double check vin on car , wrong pin gets accepted under wrong system , also if someone can explain neutralise, I heard its only if you want to use ecu in another car, we did it once on a kia and messed up dump on a spare key job and ended up with a non runner,a friend fixed dump and had to write keys back in ecu, hope info helps a bit

wd bau (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/members/198734-wd-bau/)is right you must use engine plug for this car. Silca Key Program states that SBB has an adapter for this to use in engine bay.

The car in question being 2005 is definately OBDII inside vehicle.

That is not entirely correct. The same key silca kia 3RTO was used from 2000 - 2002 ID48 and 2002/03 - on - ID46 OBD inside vehicle

I have also been told that these need to be done from the socket under the bonnet, and yes, this does have obd socket, and i can comunicate with it via the socket so it should work to program keys, keys are id46, the last six digits of the vin (vin stamped into bulkhead, not off tax disc :) ) are 732193 and pin is 983808.

I dont have any equipment that will read the vin via obd so cant confirm if ecu has been changed in the past.

i had sedona 2003 just few days ago.
after reading mvp pro manual where it says you can damage the ecu once procedure not done in correct way (soem transponder initiation etc) i have eeprom it.
fairly straight forward - immo box where drivers knees are - easy access from the bottom.
mine was id48.
transponders generated and job done.
hope it will help someone
