Alientech - Kess/KTag different on Tricore_BootMode !

is there an different on the files between an Kess and Ktag readout (on Tricore BootMode EDC17)?
Did i get same filesize .. ?

Hi M8,

Even with same file size, check inside for data, eobd should be partial reading, Ktag will do full backup.
Open both files and compare,

i don't have alientech tools yet ... so don't can compare ...

I thing it don't have any different on ecd17/med17 read in boot mod whit k-tag and Kess v2 i have both but never compare the files between them .
Let someone else say i will compare tomorrow , i will read one car whit both , and will see .

kess v2 and ktag in bootmode make the same file, the only difference is that ktag in some cases make a 1,5mb file, kess v2 make everytime a 2Mb file, filling blank space with FF

in backup tick on, both tools read same, mpc+eeprom.. on some ecus also external memory it reads. the size of the content changes according to the type of the mpc (tc1766 1504 kb , tc1797 2-4 mb on occasion) boot mode conditions dont change according to ktag or kess in alientech tools cos all protocols belong to same company :)

clio, i have both genuine alien tools, with the same mcu make file with different size, 1,5mb (ktag) and 2,0mb(kessv2) respectively. try to read a bmw edc17cp02 and double check if you don't trust in me

No bro, if u pay attention to my reply, i said, in backup mode, both tools read same, for a long time i did not use kess v2 tricore, ktag makes me feel easier in terms of operation... however, in backup mode both read same, I will test again whenever an ecu comes and pst here

hi am i correct in thinking kess and k tag clone boot wires wrong way ? anyone have kess v2 (clone) tricore boot mode help files , as the chinese seem to have omitted in sw, kind of handy im thinking, as lots of new cars, or better to use k tag, ? im told kess works well in boot, but no info on sw, same as k tag ??
im confused as told pins on cable wrong way, hate to do damage to a good ecu,

Use only ORIGINAL TOOLS!

I have oryginal Allientech tools to, and the day before yesterday I did Kess on OBD BMW 2010 year at ECU edc17cp02 and read me 1,46MB
Checked in my database and K-Tag on this ECU read 1,46MB file to... the difference is KESS read paritial and K-Tag full read

EDIT: KESS protocol is edc17cp02 but Winols recognize file as edc17c06...
