Hi my Openbox s11 HDMI is faulty, so im looking to get a replacement box. My budget is around ?70. Only 2 things i want is a HD box that has decent recording functionality using a external hardrive.

Ive seen a few boxes such as the Openbox X5,F3 and at the moment the Skybox F5s seems to be a decent priced box with good features. So let me know what you think guys and your experiences with certain boxes.

Also not too fussed about EPG but was wondering what the cheapest option is if i wanted an EPG capable box.

Thanks guys

For that price range I would get an original Skybox F5s and have change of around ?20 from your ?70 budget.

The x5 is a clone I believe and on top of that the channel lists by AJ and Sattv5 aren't compatible with X5 as it uses a different channel list. In fact it may be really difficult getting a channel list for this box.

It now has 7 day epg and capable of recording from epg.

It's not without it's problems though. No twin tuner (but these from other manufacturers cost well over ?100 anyhow), it can only record from epg if the box is left on (ie not on standby).

It's hoped this recording problem may be fixed with a future firmware update.
