ive got a hardware cisco firewall, cost a fortune commercialy but it cost me nowt as did the majority of my server rack. gotta love free stuff that companies want to toss in the junk heap :) i love it when IT departments upgrade their gear and essentialy give away all their old equipment.

not used software in years, dont all routers have a firewall built in nowadays?
Cant really be of much help on the software aspect but i fogured id give you atleast the courtesy of a response.

best Firewall is a router (you don't need cisco, belkin, netgear, linski, dynamode will do fine). for software. try Comodo personal firewall. that said, if I'm behind a router, Windows firewall is well up to the job. its just many who have used it, aren't!!!!!!!!!!
