Hi
Everything has suddenly stopped working on my Skybox. The channel is stuck on 100 and when I put in any other channel - ie 461, it says no such channel. I've rebooted the box numerous times but it just won't change channel or try to find any channels. Any advice please?

Oh god that sounds as if it's going to be complicated. Does a Serial RS232 Null modem Cable go under any other title? ie, am i likely to have one lying around from something else or am I going to have to go to a specialist shop to get one

Looks like this. If you haven't got one lying around they are only a couple of quid to buy.

EDIT: Make sure the connections on the end are the right ones you need. IE: Male or female.

Before going to the trouble of flashing by serial port, can I ask a few questions?

Can you still access the menu options? If so, what happens when you press OK, then Red Button (group), then select ALL.

If you have lost your channels, then installing a new channel list might be all that's required.

If that doesn't work (& you can still access your menu options), then you could try installing new firmware by USB.

The serial port method is only usually needed if the box doesn't boot at all, or if it gets stuck while booting.

btw...What channel do you currently see on ch100?

The channel i'm not sure of - at 6.30am on a Tuesday morning it was "Landscape" and the other day it was darts that was on but there is no channel number showing except on the box. Yes can still access the memory. Pressing menu brings up channel edit and pressing that just brings up informaion tv. Oh but favourites brings up all the channels on he right hand side. Oooooh if I add them all to favourites, they're back!!!!!
Oh wow, thank you. Got to go to work in a minute so only added a few but will add the rest later on all being well. thanks so much. hubby will be well impressed when he gets his arse out of bed!

Hi All I have been having a issue after i flashed a F5 box with an old firmware as was not getting full signal on pay channels.
FTA channels works fine. when i go to a pay channel i get a 5% signal and no signal on the screen,

I have a diode cable and still not good. my other f5 box works fine on the same LNB.

flashed with different firmwares and still the same.

any suggestions

Glad you have found a way to sort it freccle.

It might be quicker to install a new channel list to make sure everything is back in the right place (if you feel confident enought). It's quite straightforward.

I'll have a look at how complicated it looks and maybe have a go. It's stupid, I'm fairly computer literate but with this thing all I do is press the on button and then 461 and after that it's my husband who uses it for the other channels
